18th Durga Saptashati Homam Report, Chennai

With the blessings of the divine Mother Goddess Meenakshi and the benign presence of Sri Lakshmiji, the 18th Sri Maha Nava Chandi Homam was conducted on Sunday, the 27th March 2011, at “Meenakshi Illam”, Tiruvallur,Chennai.

The Pooja Mandapam was well decorated like a groove, full of flowers, vegetables and fruits, bringing in the needed environment for inviting the Mother Goddess.

By 1.30 pm, the program commenced with the special message from Sri Lakshmiji, highlighting the importance of “Mathru Pooja”.  Sri Lakshmiji narrated the significance insisting that everyone start the day with the hearty prayers for one’s mother.  Followed by this, Sri Lakshmiji performed the Mathru pooja by herself.

After the above, the main pooja started with the invocation of Lord Ganesha and the maha sankalpam.Later the Maha Nava Chandi Homam commenced with the Fire emanated from the churning of the sacred wooden plank.  The Pooja went on with complete devotional fervor and traditionally, with all types of offerings, conduct of Suvasini Puja, Kanya Puja and Kal Bhairava Pooja, etc

The main highlight of the program was the scintillating music performance by the Nadaswaram troupe.The program concluded with the Maha Poornahuthi to Goddess Durga.  During this time, the divine presence of the Ultimate was experienced by one and all.

The event was very nicely organized and well attended by the local population and ended with the annadanam.
