Vasantha Navaratri Maha Nava Chandi Yagnam 2010 – Report

By the grace of Mother Goddess Meenakshi the 11th Nava Chandi Yagnam was conducted in a very spectacular manner at Tiruvallur on 24-Mar-2010.

The Yagna Sala was decorated with plantain trees, mango leaves and flowers and fruits thereby creating an atmosphere of pleasant and cool grove for the Goddess. The preliminary rituals started at 2:00 PM with the Punyahavachana(purification ceremony) and Ganesh Puja(warding off obstacles).

Maha Sankalpam (a Resolve) was made by Sri “Meenakshi Kataksha” Lakshmiji for the global welfare and for the well being of all the devotees

In the most traditional way, Agni, the sacred fire was churned with two wooden pieces of the Peepul tree and the agni generated was used for the yagnam. Ganapathy, Navagraha Homas were performed, followed by the Navavarna yantra Puja and Maha Nava Chandi Yagnam.

Four Vedic priests headed by Shri Balu Shastrigal , conducted the Yagna following all the rites and rituals as per the Shastras.

The Mandapa Puja (invoking the Parivara Devatas, the deities in 99 Kumbhas) was performed before invoking the main deity Shri Chandika Parameshwari. This is an important ritual before the commencement of the yagna where in you propitiate (satisfy) the Parivara Devatas.

The main Chandi Yagna went on for six hours conducted by adept Vedic priests and offerings made by Shri Lakshmiji .The main deity Chandika Parameshwari Devi representing Maha Kali(Goddess of Victory, Maha Lakshmi(Goddess of Wealth) and maha Saraswati(Goddess of Wisdom) was invoked with the chanting of the Durga Saptashati and propitiated by making offerings in the fire.

Kumari and Suvasini pujas were performed invoking Mother Goddess on a female child and a married woman to ward off purva janma sthri shapa and sarpa shapa(curse).

Vaduka Bhairava puja was done invoking Lord Bhairava on a brahmachari(adolescent boy) for overall protection.

Yogini puja followed invoking the 64 Goddesses who govern the entire cosmos.

The Poornahuti marks the completion of the Yagnam by making complete offerings of auspicious and fragrant materials amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras wherein you surrender completely to the Goddess’ will.This is followed by a ritual Vasodhara Homam offering ghee continuously into the fire and chanting vedic mantras (Rudram Chamakam) seeking the fulfillment of everyone’s wants and needs.

The Grand Event went on in a very peaceful and serene manner and the lively presence of Mother Goddess was felt by all the devotees present and the concluded with the Mangala aarthi. Abhishekam was performed to Ambaal with the Kalasha Teertha.

Sri Lakshmiji felt the benevolence of Mother Goddess because the yagam went on very successfully.

The yagna was well attended by the general public of Thiruvallur and our devotees from Chennai, Madurai and Hyderabad.
