Maha Nava Chandi Homam, Sep 2010 – Report

With the Grace of Mother Goddess Meenakshi and the blessings of the Guru Parampara, the 13th NavChandi Yagnam was conducted in a very divine and grandeur manner at “Meenakshi Illam” at Tiruvallur on Thursday, September 16, 2010.

The Yagna Sala was beautifully decorated with plantain trees, mango leaves, various types of fruits and flowers. The preliminary rituals started well in time at around 1:00 PM with the Punyahavachana (purification ceremony). Under the guidance of Shri Lakshmiji, five Vedic priests conducted the Yagna following all the rites and rituals as per the Vedic Shastras. The sacred fire was quickly generated by churning two wooden pieces of peepal’s tree by vedic pandits which indicates the immediate lively presence of ambal ready to receive the offerings to be made through the sacred fire and all the rites rituals to be performed  in respect of Her (Mother Goddess) throughout the yagnam till the final offering of  auspicious mangala dravyas during Maha  Poornahuti.

The main Chandi Yagna went on for nearly six hours conducted by the Vedic priests and offerings made by Shri Lakshmiji . The Maha Yagnam was concluded with the Mangala Aarati.

During the performance of the yagnam Sri lakshmiji could sense the absolute serenity as described in the 12th chapter of Devi Mahatmiyam( Glory of the Devi Chandika Parameswari)

“yathrai tat patyate samyak nithyamayatane mama
Sada na tad vimokshyami saanidhyam tatra mesthitam”

Wherein Mother Goddess assures that “wherever in my shrine the chanting of my glory is done in proper way with sincerity and understanding of the essence of it , i dwell in that place and my presence could be felt  all through permanently”.

The yagna was well attended by the general public of Tiruvallur and our devotees from Chennai, Coimbatore and from abroad.
